About event
As part of the upcoming album 'In A Landscape', Max Richter will come to the Royal Theater Carré in Amsterdam with his 'Max Richter World Tour' on November 28, 2024. His long-awaited album will be released on September 6 this year. Ticket sales start on June 6 at 10 am via Greenhousetalent.com Richter is known as one of the most influential and acclaimed composers of his generation. In addition to creating nine studio albums, Max Richter has also had numerous successful collaborations. He has collaborated with designer Kim Jones for various Dior shows, and he has collaborated with famous directors such as Denis Villeneuve, Martin Scorsese and Ari Folman. He also knows how to attract a large audience on platforms such as Spotify, where he can count on more than one billion streams and almost 4 million monthly listeners.
His ninth studio album 'In A Landscape', which will be released on September 6, is the first album that the now 58-year-old Richter wrote and recorded in his new Studio Richter Mahr in Oxfordshire. The central focus is on reconciling contradictions within an acoustic and electronic framework in which people and nature, the big questions of life and the small pleasures of life find each other. According to Richter, 'In A Landscape' is a meditative attempt to see where he is now in life and a very personal counterweight to previous projects such as 'Exiles' (refugee crisis) or 'Voices' (human rights). He deliberately kept the creation process minimal: a string quintet, grand piano, Hammond organ and MiniMoog, supplemented with tape echoes, vocoder and reverb. The intimate character is further supported by nine 'Life Studies' or assembled 'field recordings' of, among other things, footsteps in the forest, boiling eggs, Mozart practice sessions at the piano or a trolley in an airport. In this way he also makes a link to the 'found sounds' of his breakthrough albums 'Memoryhouse' (2002) and 'The Blue Notebooks' (2004).
The second part of the Max Richter World Tour is shaped by 'The Blue Notebooks', his protest album against the invasion of Iraq and violence in general. 'On The Nature of Daylight', the album's epic centerpiece, was recently featured in HBO's critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic drama series 'The Last Of Us' and has appeared on numerous film and TV soundtracks. Richter performed the album in its entirety at last year's Glastonbury Festival, along with Tilda Swinton, who joined Richter on stage to recite the spoken pieces she had written for the original recording.
Max Richter will perform in the UK, Europe, North America, Canada, Australia and Asia in the most iconic venues during 2024 and 2025 with his “Max Richter World Tour”. In Amsterdam he will perform on November 28 Royal Theater Carré.
