About event
Mazgani is back in print and on stage with "Cidade de Cinema", which the singer describes as “a fantasy of silence and transcendence, the city as an inner map of search and a place to be visited by anyone who wants to”
The new album, of which the single "A Chama" is already known, is the artist's sixth original album. An album, for the first time, composed entirely of songs sung in Portuguese.
Mazgani began his career with the release of the album "Song of the New Heart" at the end of 2007. A debut acclaimed by specialized national critics and foreign: the magazine "Les Inrockuptibles", in France, considers Mazgani one of the 20 best new musical artists in Europe; At the end of 2008, the International Songwriting Competition, where names such as Tom Waits and Jerry Lee Lewis are on the panel of judges, awarded third place to the song "Somewhere Beneath The Sky", in a competition between 16,000 artists from all over the world.< br/>In 2009 he released the EP "Tell the People", and in 2010, Mazgani released his second album of originals "Song of Distance". In the same year he wrote the music and performed the Musical Direction for the play "Mr.Puntila and his Servant Matti", by Bertolt Brecht, staged by Teatro Aberto, and winner of the Golden Globe for Best Play of the same year.< br/>In 2013 he released his third album, "Common Ground", produced by John Parish (PJ Harvey, Eels) with the collaboration of Mick Harvey (Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds), entirely recorded and mixed in Bristol, England.
"The Poet's Death", his fourth album of originals, was released in 2017, followed by "The Gambler Song" (2020).
With release scheduled for the last quarter of this year "Cidade de Cinema" aims to continue an authorial work begun almost 20 years ago and the primary objective will be to tread new aesthetic territories, in this case evident through the adventure in the Portuguese language, seeking, at the same time, to maintain recognizable and coherent identity traits of its loyal audience.
