Homily: Petr Kučera
Liturgical prayer
Between heaven and earth
(Autumn series of homilies)
A believer prays either in his own words or in learned or written words that someone invented before us. Some customary prayers have become known throughout the world. Others became the church's liturgical treasure. Others fell in love with individuals.
On Sunday, we will continue the series on prayer by reflecting on liturgical texts that seem formal, but can be the most sincere and humble thing we say during the day in relation to God.
Biblical texts:
Psalm 96
The Gospel according to Luke, chapter 1, verses: 39-55
--------------
From October we start the series homilies on the subject of prayer. Yes, prayer is one of the basic foundations of spiritual life.
When a person utters his thoughts and final amen into the space of the universe, there comes a mysterious moment of silence, faith, questioning. Perhaps that is why we chose the title "Between Heaven and Earth" for the series.
How did we come up with the themes? Probably each of us spoke to God in a different way. He thanked, asked, shouted to God... In the homiletic group, we wrote down different "types" of prayers and sorted them out gradually. We had a great time doing this job. The result is the following list: Celebratory prayer, contemplative prayer, penitential prayer, intercessory prayer, liturgical prayer, desperate prayer (lamentation). And finally: Learning to pray.
Let autumn encourage our prayer life!
