Popular Music is a new project of Prudence Rees-Lee and Zac Pennington, the frontman of the cult experimental band parenthetical Girls, which disintegrated twelve years ago. Synth-pop adaptations 12 more or less obscure songs of the silver screen together Pennington and Rees-Lee recorded between Hollywood and Melbourne on a cassette recorder with a few analog synths and drum slot machines.
followed by semi-autobiographical existential album Minor Works of Popular Music set in the environment of the apocalyptic Los Angeles, cassette mini-album against men and instrumental collection of Christmas carols Carols for Consumers.
This May, Popular Music sets out on a European tour with a MeetFactory stop.
