The association for modal music Modalmusic.cz would like to invite you to an exceptional and rare concert in the Czech Republic called Zarbi-khâni, a concert of Iranian classical music performed by two excellent musicians under the name Duo Gardān. The duo consists of singer Mehdi Emami and singer Saina Zamaniyan. We are very happy to organize a concert of such wonderful music. In the past, Hossein Alizâdeh and Pejman Hadadi performed in the Czech Republic in 2014.
On Saturday, September 5, it is possible to register for a workshop of Iranian singing or tar and setar. More information at [email protected]

MEHDI EMAMI
Famous Iranian classical music singer and pedagogue Mehdi Emami, who studied civil engineering, started devoting himself to techniques and repertoire as a teenager. of classical Iranian singing. He studied classical Iranian music with recognized masters of this tradition, the great personalities Mohammad Reza Shajarian and Mohammad Reza Lotfi. His other Iranian music teachers included Mohsen Keramati, Hasan Adib and his father Ahmad Emami.
Mehdi Emami also plays various musical instruments such as dayereh, tombak, daf, setar and santur. In 2020 and 2021, he received an honorary diploma of the Barbad Award for the best singing of classical Iranian music. So far he has released around 17 albums of classical Iranian music.
Besides many performances in Iran, he has also performed in various concerts and international festivals in Great Britain, Europe, Syria, India, Azerbaijan and Algeria. He also worked as one of the soloists of the Iran Symphony Orchestra and as a member of the artistic council of the Iranian Classical Music Festival. In addition to his concert activity, he has taught at various institutions and privately, and is thus also an active pedagogue of Iranian classical singing.

SAINA ZAMANIYAN
Saina studied playing the tar and setar with important masters such as Hooshang Zarif, Hossein Alizadeh and Daryush Talaei. She continued her studies at the Tehran University of Arts and is currently completing her doctorate at the Jean Monnet University in France.
In 2019, she released her first album entitled "11 Tasnifs by Ali-Naqi Vaziri", which presents a new interpretation of eleven lesser-known compositions by Vaziri, one of the most important figures in modern Iranian music. The album offered a different take on the lesser-known works of this influential composer. During her studies, she also worked as the director of the Saba music festival in Tehran for two seasons. In the final year of her master's degree, Saina began teaching at the Tehran Conservatory of Music, where she herself had previously studied. During three years there she taught the subjects of music theory and orchestration of Iranian music. After completing her master's degree, she released her second album "Rahgoon", a solo recording of playing the tar. In the same year that she started her doctoral studies, she also released her third album, "11 Duets by Ali-Naqi Vazíri".
Saina now lives in France, where she continues her studies and her musical activities. She has performed at a number of international festivals, including the Moqam Festival in Uzbekistan, where she won second prize with her group, and the Folk Music Festival in Malaysia. She also collaborated with musicians from different cultural backgrounds and toured in India, France, Belgium and Sweden.
