Melancholie

The film Melancholia by Danish director Lars von Trier tells the enchanting story of two sisters (Kirsten Dunst and Charlotte Gainsbourg), the younger of whom is just getting married and becoming a new mother. The wedding festivities take place at an ancient country estate, and the general festive mood is clouded by the sudden threat of a red planet that has risen from behind the sun and threatens to collide with Earth. Director Trier is famous for a precisely graded atmosphere with unexpected plots and twists that lead to an even more unexpected ending. He is also famous for his demanding management of actors - especially actresses, of whom the blonde beauty Kirsten Dunst, known for example from the blockbuster film Spider-Man or the historical film Marie Antoinette, and the demonic Charlotte Gainsbourg, who stunned the audience and critics with her superb acting in Trier's previous and quite shocking mystery Antichrist, will appear in the main roles in Melancholia.
