rocking softness and bright dissonants characterizes, among other things, the beautiful music of Membra Jesu Nostri. Seven short cantates are dedicated to: feet, knees, hands, silk, chest, heart and face. The symbols in the text can be filled in according to your own feeling: mountains, footsteps, nails, deep stripes, the claws of a lion, but also: sweet honey, the surprise of the beauty of a bird flies out of a rock wall, the natural way of children drinking milk from the chest and finally the intimacy of the face: eyes, mouth and cheese.
These symbols in combination with the mobile music of Buxtehude has inspired Ensemble La Silva to perform this music with movement and dance. The singers walk on the stage while singing and form one whole with the dancers.
As an introduction, the tranquil last unfinished Fuga by Bach sounds. This is the last thing Bach composed just before his death. Ensemble La Silva interprets it in this performance: Bach is dying and IJlt, then the music from his younger years comes back to which he loved: the music of Buxtehude.
The two essential works that Antonio Pleeggi spend the further unknown.
