Merope
duo formed by Lithuanian Indrė Jurgelevičiūtė and by the Belgian Condenses of Origin. Merope invokes in her purest state, memories, landscapes, myths and ancestral and contemporary philosophies. In a symbiotic hit between acoustic instruments and songs of lithuanian folklore, guitar, synthesizers, varied percussions and a very conscious and accurate use of the electronics, starting from elder roots to intertwine in a plot where environmentalism, jazz, kösmische and minimalism inhabit the same living landscape of ancestry and futurism. All very natural and full of humanity, not completely removed from the most romantic aura of the Fonal Publishing -Islaja or Paavharju -, from the spirits of Fursaxa or the visions of Kara -Li Coversal, but in its own world. Instrumental spring above, Merope's songs vibrate with active delicacy, as if in suspension, exploring Lithuanian's primordial harmonic inheritance on albums as discreetly striking as 'nakte' or 'salas'. ‘VėJula’ launched in 2024, continues the association of the duo with Stroom - increasingly pertinent publisher in the days that run - and expands the essential palette outlined in previous records. Bringing to the cast names like Bill Frisell or Laraaji, ‘Vėjula’ opens a panoramic over his music, without cutting the umbilical cord through a crossing between a more clumsy folk -Lopšinė -Spiritual Ascension -Valli -, Ghosts of Melodies Passed on Electro -Acoustic Casters Focus and hypnosis. Marmelxs, joins percussionists Francisco Cipriano and Marco Aleixo. Both with roots in the classic, but dedicated to contemporary and improvised music are present in a duo of fire duo. It is born through the intense sound sharing that unites these people, the medium that represents them and the language they hear.
