MĚSÍC UKRAJINY | CALIGULA

Caligula. This name of the Roman Emperor has been associated with cruelty for centuries that knows no boundaries, the impunity of tyranny and perversions that take absurd forms. A tragic fate filled with contempt for all people and open hatred, nourishing animal cruelty. By producing the National Theater Ivan Frank of Kiev, we present another of the works of Ukrainian director Ivan Uyvsky. To free himself from the past, he shows everyone his resilience under the wounds of fate. They try to reverse the meaning of life, but only chaos and death brings its crazy actions. Looking at Caligulus we ask questions: How far can one go in fear of your own life? What makes a person to endure torment and humiliation? What is real freedom and what is worth? What transforms a man into a slave, a being without dignity and honor? How does you turn a person unlimited power? Is he he himself who is able to create a tyranny, bringing death and destruction not only to humanity, but also the whole civilization? The premiere of the production took place in Kiev four months after the beginning of the war in the summer of 2022.
