Mezipatra: Kraťasy mladých talentů středněvýchodní Evropy

A selection of short contemporary films from Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Ukraine opens up LGBTQ+ topics in their own cinematic language.

Whether it delivers an intimate personal statement, works with queer history, or tells a story from everyday civil life. As a whole, they show the diversity of queer experiences across the region – from the search for identity and closeness to issues of freedom, acceptance and a sense of home. The collection of films brings a view of a new generation of authorship, which sensitively, courageously and authentically captures the life of queer people.

Visitors can look forward to, among other things, the Ukrainian Tell Me a Fairy Tale, winner of the first year of the Outpitch platform, which supports young female creators from the V4 countries and Ukraine. Good Boy from Slovakia will present the painter Andrej Dúbravský, who with his art protests against censorship not only in culture in Slovakia. Nesem ve noviny again humorously deals with the theme of coming out during the Christmas Eve dinner.

The films will be shown in their original version with English or Czech subtitles.
