SILVER SURFING
curator: Matúš Novosad

The exhibition will last until December 21, 2025

The Silver Surfing project primarily deals with the concept of distance, which manifests itself in the idea of traveling through time and space together with his imaginative friend Norrin Radd. Norrin Radd's character a.k.a. The Silver Surfer accompanies me as a figure of sharpness, brilliance and immense skill, combined with a deep sadness. We understand the concept of distance both physically and psychologically. Globalization brings us closer, but also separates us. With frequent downloads, one is forced to create one's own bubbles. One of them is mine, which in my world of ideas and imagination is carried by the current of the cosmos without the physical laws of reality - without borders, rules and doubts. I also understand distance as the basis of abstract painting. In order to place oneself in the picture, one must understand what appears to be in front and what is behind. In the Silver Surfing series of paintings, I decided to limit the color range and thus achieve a more concentrated experience of creation. This limitation affected the practical part of image construction and opened the question of understanding contrast. I've been thinking a lot about the depth of black and white and about drawing - how to use it so that it doesn't feel like an afterthought, but an integrated part of the image, similar to graphic prints. At the same time, black and white itself historically refers to drawing and graphics. Drawing and printing were originally based on black and white - white paper combined with black graphite or ink on matrices. There is something fundamental about it that keeps coming back.

The Fund for the Support of Art was supported by public funds.
