Michal Hertlík - Surinam / cestovateľský večer

Traveler and photographer Michal Hertlík spent two months last year in Suriname, one of the most undiscovered and fascinating countries in South America. He traveled the entire territory of this unique "exotic Dutch colony in the tropics", where 93% of the land is covered by an endless rainforest - the largest continuous jungle in the world.

In his narration, he will bring a view of wild fauna and birds, authentic Indian tribes, and communities of descendants of African slaves, which still preserve traditions and a way of life reminiscent of the 15th century. At the same time, Suriname is a fascinating mixture of cultures from all continents, the only country in South America with Dutch as an official language and a place where you can find wooden colonial architecture registered in UNESCO.

Contrasts of poverty and wealth, gold and bauxite deposits, Caribbean lifestyle, a colorful lively carnival and the atmosphere of an unbridled tropical paradise - all this Michal during his expedition he documented.

He brought more than 16,000 photos and is probably the first Slovak to document Suriname in such detail and depth.
