Michal Machciník - interior space
The exhibition project entitled "Interior Space" is an ambitious exposure attempt to re -reflect the current artistic activities of the Košice sculptor and intermediate artist Michal Machciník (1989). Ambitious because it is not a common phenomenon to work on the author's exposure to the turn of the young and middle generation in the form of a retrospective approach. However, the current artistic work of Michal Machciník allows such a curatorial concept and it systematically documents the most important topics and circuits of the author. Michal Machciník is on the art scene almost immediately after graduation at the Faculty of Arts and continuously develops his artistic program, which acquires traditional sculptural craft in the extension of conceptual approaches such as object, environment, found object, assemblage, video, art in public space and installation.
The exhibition is divided into seven basic thematic circuits, which present selected artistic concepts to the given area. Machcinic approaches a work of art as a researcher and examines the possibilities of working with space in the context of a three -dimensional understanding of external and internal reality. As a sculptor, he tries to depict not only the external, visited reality, but he is particularly interested in internal entities, internal spaces, which it materializes using specific authorial techniques. The first circle of sculptural presentation of Machciník is a set of gypsum bouquet - portraits of publicly known and own friends from the author's circle, which makes machinics concomitantly during the previous creative activity. They represent a more traditional, but more precious approach in contemporary art and are evidence of talent, skills and the result of the training of the "Bartus School". The other approach is based on the crossing of the studio framework of art production and is the result of a direct archaeological approach and examination of natural processes, which the author sometimes accidentally, sometimes consciously confronts the presence of a person's trace. The author presents the distinctive interest of the circle in the installation and videos dedicated to the topic of the tramping, which is particularly specific in the Czechoslovak environment and represents not only leisure activity, but for Machciník it is a phenomenon and celebration of the non -consuming society and a certain worldview that presents educational way in the videos and materializes in the installation of the old tramp. In Hoplit 2020 N. l. Machcinic presents the figurative essence of sculpture in the genesis of ancient poses and uses the body as an archaeological artifact found in the future, which presents the development of the human race in a frequently perceived geological and historical understanding of time. The central installation is a monumentally converted Benedict's space - a place for St. Benedict's hermit. This installation combines two important planes of the author's author's program - space as a contemplative place materialized in sculptural form and sacral starting points, which are a distinguishing feature of machinic installations. At the same time, the Benedict's space is an expression of the social status of the artist, stylizing in the position of the saint - an ascetic. Cave spaces in the mountains, or various natural and artificial openings, the hiding places were the living space of the practice of the ascetic way of life and this monumental installation is an intimate reconstruction of the living space of the founder of the Benedictine Order. The starting points of the themes of the interior are the series from the cycle Homage to theperture - Cavin, which creates time, which was presented in 2020 at a collective exhibition to the wild in the Slovak National Gallery. This again preceded the more intimate series of consciousness, a cavity in which time, which was presented at the first independent exhibition of the author at the turn of 2016 - 2017 in the East Slovak Gallery. The last chapter of the exposition is a series of heads that presents ready-made objects of a more intimate character. These are part of the imaginary cabinets of natural history (heads from the forest, metal heads, comet, atoms), a cabinet of curiosities, which include bird preparations, which the author in combination with other found objects gives a secondary function in the form of a trophy and postmodern educational aid.
Machciník's creative processes are the result of the pedagogical management of prof. Bartusza, in which the studio was attended by a muscle training. Machcinik's intermediate work is on the border of the statue, object, concept and new media. In its realizations, it examines the space as a physical entity in confrontation with the contemplative legacy of topographically perceived reality. In 2023, Machciník participated in the European Project of Cooperation Re-Ouse, which examines the relations between art and nature. The output of this winning project is an international collective work in the public space - the sound country of the Fossvogur site, installed in Reykjavik in Iceland. The inherent component of Machciník's work is still an uninvolved performed component, which, however, in his own artistic projects is rather a side product. The intermediate overlap of such a performance in nature represents Machciník's involvement in the winning project of the Slovak Pavilion on XV. Prague Quadriennale of performing design and space in 2023, where in cooperation with the authors team presented the installation of houses is warm.
As one of the few contemporary authors, on the basis of the project of the Košice self -governing region, art on place X could implement sculptural installation in public space, namely in the cadastre of the village of Zádiel. With its silhouette, the work evokes a flying comet on the horizon. The shape was created by a combination of recycled parts of technical and natural materials, namely the drum of mixers and thrown Christmas trees. The building is installed on the border of the nature reserve and the industrial landscape, while the limestone rocks of Zádielska valley with the nearby construction of the cement plant. (Peter Megyesi, 2023). Installation around Zadiel nature is a remarkable achievement in the field of land-art projects in eastern Slovakia.
For the municipality of Zádiel, the project Zádielsky Cabinet - an exhibition of regional exhibitions in the Museum of Zádiels, which presents the original collection of objects collected from the inhabitants of the municipality who, at their own discretion, lent objects, respectively. donated to temporary exposure. Installation of items is based on the artistic program of the author, which has long been working with the phenomenon of found items. The approach of the machiník in the context of his work and the created exposure can also be named with a new phrase, when it is a kind of "art-tramping". The combination of art and vaginalism in nature or the country gives a new dimension and view of art creation as a form of an object and installation in an artistic-historical context. The phenomenon of this tramping is for him a penetration between man, landscape, place and nature. It is a lifestyle, an opinion that has become an art strategy at the same time and refers to the tradition of the Czechoslovak cultural environment.

Machciník completed his studies at the Faculty of Arts in Košice in the Studio of Free Creativity and 3D led by Juraj Bartusz. During his studies he completed an internship at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts in the sculptural studio of Jindřich Zeithamml (2012), in 2015 he was a semi -finalist of the Start Point Prize Award for diplomators of European art schools. In 2016 - 2020 he completed his doctoral studies led by prof. Petr Rónai, whose output was the dissertation work of art in space and space in art. Cavity and interior space in contemporary sculpture. He currently works at the Faculty of Arts, Department of Fine Arts and Intermedia as a professional assistant.
