What happens when Tashi Dorji (in Slovak Tashi Dorže), a Bhutanese guitarist with roots in metal and punk music, gets acquainted with the raw minimalism of American primitivism? He first settles in North Karolín, where he will start with austere, but all the more explosive improvisations. He will gradually introduce the structures of Buddhist temple music into them, which very quickly directs him to similar guitar loners who gather around hotspots such as Hermit Hut, Palilalia Records, or Drag City. They are, for example, Derek Bailey, Marisa Anderson, Ben Chasne and Bill Orcutt. Lyrical motifs permeate his years-honed improvisations, where every strum and silence has a carefully determined place. They gain intensity and aggression, as if the guitar sometimes turns into a dry branch rattling in the wind. Later, they may become a little Zen and empty themselves into repetitiveness and meditativeness. However, the conclusion can only be added after a live experience.
Richard Hronský at LOMe will try out a more laboratory space this time, in which he will more comprehensively present his current album Pohreb. It was published at the beginning of September by the Slovak publishing house mappa, so it will be a baptism or punishment, depending on what Rišo comes up with. There will be an opening speech, there will be a flurry, there will be field recordings and it is whispered that there will also be secret guests. Pohreb is a personal album, which was recently very nicely described by the Czech columnist Pavel Klusák: Acoustic drones seem to pick up some atmosphere that hangs in the air and only intensify its resonance. We also hear fragments of real rituals, singing and the organ; Richard just quotes them rather than following them directly without distance. It's a very nice personal remix of the situation "I came from here and traditions were walking around", somewhat modestly respecting people and demons connecting the past with today.
