After the canceled concert at the end of 2021, Pierre Bastien finally stops at LOMe. It will be a concert that continues and expands the concepts of "mechanical music", which you could experience during the performances of Tatsuya Umedu, Petra Válka, Maria Komarovej, Ryoko Akama, and others.

Pierre Bastien is a French "conductor", composer, designer and multi-instrumentalist.

His orchestra Mecanium is composed of musical automatons that are activated by electric motors. As a building material, parts of the Meccano building block (one of the oldest technical building blocks, founded in 1901) are used, which is similar to the well-known Mercury. The members of the orchestra are therefore mechanisms that play specific instruments from around the world, such as the Chinese lute, the Moroccan bender, the Javanese saron, the koto or the sanzu. Bastien has been working with him since 1976, first in the French avant-garde scene, later his album was also released by Aphex Twin. Today he performs in large concert halls.

Hybrid and self-playing sculptures resemble a series of short illusions, the sound of which takes you back to the era of the first mechanical toys and musical instruments. Mecanium, however, is not a museum exhibit, on the contrary, Bastien can very smoothly transition from the position of a conductor to a mechanic or performer during a performance, who seamlessly blends in with his metal teammates. href="https://angeloharmsworth.bandcamp.com/album/without-blinking">https://angeloharmsworth.bandcamp.com/album/without-blinking

Angelo Harmsworth is a musician and sound artist from New Mexico, USA, who currently lives in Berlin. In his compositions, he tries to map the boundaries of meaning, plays with the perception of time, place, and sound. Creates such hallucinogenic, time-sealed and at the same time extreme cathartic soundscapes. His sets are best listened to in the “eyes wide shut” mode, which is best practiced by listening to his last year's album Without Blinking, which was released by the Slovenian publishing house Warm Winters Ltd. I recommend mainly to fans of Jefre Cantu-Ledesmu, Fennesza or labels like Opal Tapes or Students of Decay.

Part of the Mikrosvuk series is a regular live stream.

machinery, at the cross between music and visual art that blends live trumpet sounds with screen projections of on-site, mechanical sound sculptures in a very poetic way.

His work is described as “a timeless sounding orchestra, both futuristic and slightly dada, conjuring ancient traditions in its surprisingly sensuous music.”

Bastien has been called a “mad musical scientist with a celebrity following” by The Guardian. Collaborating in the past with filmmaker Pierrick Sorin, fashion designer Issey Miyake, singer and composer Robert Wyatt and Aphex Twin (who released three of his albums on his label Rephlex) to name a few, he is one of the most influential experimental musicians working in the field.
In 1986 he formed his own self made one man orchestra, Mecanium and made over 30 records over the years. href="https://angeloharmsworth.bandcamp.com/album/without-blinking">https://angeloharmsworth.bandcamp.com/album/without-blinking
