MILA MAR is universally fantastic. With their own language, driving rhythms, orchestral - melancholy staged, they create an unmistakable sound that suggests that the Arctic Ocean lies in the Orient. Oriental synthesizer sounds, African djembe ś, strings, drums & A. Hachfeld's impressive four-octave vocals tell archaic stories - soulful & without any understandable words.
MILA MAR concerts are powerful, almost spiritual events in which Hachfeld connects with the audience. She sings in her own fantasy language, singing Joik, an ancient Sámi singing art that she learned in the north of Norway, and then switching to oriental throat singing. Your voice is a versatile instrument. The real world connects for two hours with the soul world of each individual listener..." (Wilhelm Dietzel HNA)
Mila Mar was founded in Göttingen in 1994, the first album of the same name was released in 1997. Three more albums and several singles followed, the band played extensive tours and festival appearances throughout Europe over the years, including with Youssou N'Dour, Mari Boine & Band and Apocalyptica. From 2004 The group becomes quiet, even if it is never officially disbanded. In 2015 they return in an expanded formation and play several concerts. In the following years they work on new song material, the EP Haime will be released in 2018. With Harar they will release their fifth studio album in spring 2019. In 2024 the 7-inch box "songs from the other side" - a work with 6 songs - was recently released is the song "Thrud".
