About event

8. 2025 from 6 pm Jan Palach 80, Prague 1, 1st floor, auditorium 115

lectures for the public yesterday and this time are devoted to the significant jubilee of UMPRUM, the 140th anniversary of its inception. 38. The cycle will focus on "personalities from the history of UMPRUM". The third lecture on the topic “Forgotten Great V. V. Štech” was prepared and recruited by prof. Milena Bartlová.

The awareness of V. V. Štech is now limited to a reminder of television shows, in which the picturesque seventy -seventy tells about old Prague. In fact, however, Štech was not only one of the key personalities of the Czech art life of the First Republic and postwar years, but also the essential and original author of works in the field of art theory. He was born in the same year 1885, when the UMPRUM was founded, and in the 1920s he was a professor. Its influence had a wide range, since the formation of the art industry to a discussion of the relationship of abstract art and new realisms, from monument care to photography theory. The lecture will bring his life and work on the basis of a collective monograph, which is prepared by the UMPRUM publishing house for publication this autumn.
