Milli Janatková & Jaroslav Kořán (křest dvojalba)

🌗 The album Písné dne a Písné noci is a cross-section of Milli Janatková and Jaroslav Kořán's fifteen-year musical collaboration, which began with their meeting at the conservatory in 2010. Joint improvisations, initially often fleeting and unrecorded, were gradually created while recording in a home studio in Prague and at a cottage in Pošumaví. On top of Kořán's musical motifs, Janatková layered spontaneous vocal improvisations, which were subsequently supplemented with other instruments and sound adjustments. The result is a diverse collection of compositions oscillating between energetic improvisation and meditative ambient surfaces, inspired by the sounds of nature and the city and the shared playfulness of both authors.

Milli Janatková is a musician and visual artist connecting genres and artistic fields. In addition to painting and graphics, he devotes himself to improvisation and composition, singing, playing the guitar and drums. In addition to the club and festival scene in the Czech Republic, she performed abroad (India, Nepal, Denmark, France, Greece, Germany, Portugal and Norway). Her self-titled albums Transformation (2013), My Roots (2017), Hluboko (2020) and Quiet, please! (2022) won The Independent Music Awards, LIT Talent Awards or a nomination for the Classic Prague Awards. Janatková's work expresses respect for health and opens the topic of responsibility and self-knowledge through the understanding of stories from personal, family and cultural history. Jaroslav Kořán works in the fields of music and sound, graphics, photography and video, the main common feature of which is controlled chance and the use of unusual materials and techniques. He plays a variety of percussion instruments (including his own instrument, the Astrology of the Dreamers). His domain is improvisation, film and theater accompaniment, he deals with the recording of music, sound and its editing, the filming of video films and their processing, photography and the creation of visual works. In 1992, he founded the ensembles of improvised music "Orloj snivců" and "Forgotten Orchestra of the Land of Dreamers". After studying photography, he made a living from photography, from the 1990s music and graphics, regularly collaborates as a musician, composer and sound designer on various theater, film, dance and exhibition projects - for example with Petr Nikl, Agnes Kutas, Petr Tichý, Michal Nejtek and Feng-Jün Song, Jan Burian, Milli Janatková or with his brother Michal Kořán.
