About event
Mirek Kemel is known to a wide cultural audience primarily as an excellent caricaturist who followed Renčín and Jiránek in terms of philosophical and political drawing. A few years ago, however, he also attracted attention as a folk singer-songwriter who gathered excellent accompanying musicians around him.

Kemel in his texts can be communicative and precise, without resorting to textual clichés or banalities. His poetics follows in the footsteps of refined Czech poetry and the best song lyrics, Kemel works with comprehensible but at the same time poetic metaphors, and is able to create an enchanting whole atmosphere. In addition, he benefits from a natural, very pleasant narrator's voice - and the musical side of his songs is as if familiar, clear, but not banal. His harmonies and melodies always contain surprising moments.
On the stage, he also benefits from the support of excellent musicians who – based on the foundation of softer folk-rock – are able to cross the boundaries of genres. But what emerges from the interviews with which the concert is completed: the most important thing about Kemel's band is human belonging, the ordinary, but at the same time key friendship that transcends the boundaries of music. And perhaps that is precisely why the resulting stage impression can be so convincing. Without much hype, in the last ten years, Kemel has grown into a great singer-songwriter who can deliver stories with an almost therapeutic overlap. The concert recording in the intimate atmosphere of the Café in the cinema in Veselí nad Moravou brings a cross-section of the best of Kemel's songwriting.
Band:
Vlastimil Konopiský – acoustic and electric guitar, Tomáš Görtler – accordion, Petr Tichý – double bass, Petr Mikeš – drums or double bass
