🔺 In 2025 it will be eighty years since the liberation of Auschwitz. Despite the growing time gap, the Holocaust remains one of the key themes of European memory. What does Holocaust memory look like today? With what questions is this historical tragedy connected? A discussion by experts from the Terezín Memorial, the Roma and Sinti Holocaust Memorial in Lety and the Jagiellonian University in Krakow will explain the significance of Holocaust memorial sites in the contemporary world.

EDYTA GAWRON
is a historian at the Institute of Jewish Studies of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the European Holocaust Research Infrastructure Project. It focuses on the history of Jews in Poland in the 20th century and on the contemporary Jewish diaspora. Dr. Gawron is the author of dozens of publications on the history of the Holocaust and post-Holocaust Jews in Poland. She is also the curator and co-curator of several exhibitions and museums. She worked as a scholar in many world scientific institutions.
ANNA MÍŠKOVÁ
is the historian of the Museum of Roma Culture in Brno. It focuses on the topic of the Roma and Sinti holocaust during the Second World War. Since 2018, she has been a member of the Czech delegation of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), in 2023 she chaired the Commission for Roma Genocide Issues. She was part of the working group for the creation of the specifications for the architectural-landscape competition of the Lety u Písek monument and is the co-author of its interior and exterior exposition. She is also the co-author of the book "... these are difficult memories" presenting the testimonies of Roma (and non-Roma) witnesses to the suffering in the Protectorate.
JAN ROUBÍNEK
studied history at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, at Tel Aviv University and Charles University in Prague. Between 2008 and 2011, he was a member of the historical research team of the project focused on Dr. Georg Alter, on which he collaborated with Professor Gad Freudenthal, head of the research department of the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). He has been a member of the Jewish community in Prague since 1993. He is an elected member of its council. In 2011, he started working in the historical department of the Terezín Memorial, coordinated the international project GEPAM and became involved in teaching activities. In 2015, he became the head of the documentation department of the Terezín Memorial and a member of the advisory board for collections and acquisitions. Since 2017, he has been at the head of the Terezín Memorial as director.
