✨ “Myths and Icons” | Nuno Vieira de Almeida ✨
From 9 OCT’24 to 15 JAN’25 | 6:30 pm | Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen Room *
The “Myths and Icons” conference cycle, given by Nuno Vieira de Almeida, will address major themes in literature and classical music. The first session, on October 9th, will discuss Elektra by Hofmannsthal and Strauss with Helena Vasconcelos. On October 16th, it will explore Berlioz and Mahler's readings of Goethe's Faust. On November 6th, he will examine The Knight of the Rose by Hofmannsthal and Strauss. On November 27th, with José Pedro Serra, he will deal with myths in the German Lied. On December 12th, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau will be highlighted. Finally, on January 15, 2025, it will compare Amália Rodrigues and Maria Callas with Frederico Santiago.
* Except for the sessions on October 9, which will take place in the Luís de Freitas Branco Room, and the one on the 16 October, which will take place at Sala Fernando Pessoa.
