Have you ever taken part in one of our sing-along concerts? And together with up to 1,300 people singing along and the singers from the Rundfunkchor Berlin, did the Philharmonic Orchestra resonate with their voices in every corner? Yes? Then you know what a special experience awaits you here. And for everyone who hasn't been there yet: it's worth it, we promise! Come over. Join us. Sing along.
As always, we will rehearse a demanding choral symphonic work together in two rehearsals and then perform it together. This year we have a special highlight for you in the program: Johannes Brahms' “A German Requiem”. This impressive work, which is one of the most important in choral literature, is performed by a unique cast. The choir plays a central role and accompanies the entire event.
Just last season we performed this work at the “human requiem” in the Radialsystem. This time we are additionally supported by an impressive range of participants: the Encounter Choir, the Berliner Ensemble for Classical Turkish Music zimmmt, guests from the Rundfunkchor Berlin and the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, under the direction of Simon Halsey. The evening's soloists are Yeree Suh (soprano) and Ansgar Theis (baritone), who will further enrich the performance. A concert experience that we are particularly looking forward to!
The concert will be recorded by Deutschlandfunk Kultur and will be available to listen to afterwards.
