It might seem that the magnificent acting career of Eleonora Duse is coming to an end, but the troubled times of the First World War and the coming fascism will awaken in her a voice that is stronger than devotion and will return her to where it all began: on the stage. She is driven not only by the desire to play again, but also by a deeper need to defend her place in a merciless world where she is in danger of losing everything, including the independence she has earned through a lifetime. Under the pressure of financial problems, he has to make a decision, so he chooses the only place where he can resist and speak the truth - the theater. Her only weapon is art, thanks to it she resists time, disillusionment, turns every word or gesture into an act of defiance. She brought beauty to the fight against the brutality of power and history, and the price is too high. He is losing loved ones, his health is failing. The end of her life is proof that a person can sacrifice everything - but not his own self.
