Mnislav Zelený-Atapana: Indiáni brazilské Amazonie (PREMIÉRA FILMU ALTO XINGÚ A PŘEDNÁŠKA)

"The powerful shaman Takuma of the Kamayurá tribe on the Alto Xingú took a liking to me, even though I lived and was a member of the neighboring Yawalapiti tribe. He even called me to his apprenticeship, but a normal white man cannot do that. I would also have to stay there for good, so I He spoke to my family. He gave me rare forest spirit masks and I had no idea that we would be connected through them. In a few years, I called him back to Alto Xingú 2015. Little did I know that his dead spirit was calling me to come and bid him a dignified farewell during the kuarup funeral ritual."

The coexistence of Indians with nature, with which they communicate, understand and live according to, is for many completely unreal, even mystical. Ethnologist, columnist and writer Mnislav Zelený-Atapana has a lot of experience with life in the wilderness. He routinely criticizes "our" way of life and repeatedly claims that progress will destroy humanity. The very titles of his books Progress to Extinction (Argo, 2018) and Progress over the Abyss (Argo, 2024) testify to his views. Who cares why Indians live more contentedly in the jungle? And what of their habits could one adopt to live better? Come to Mr. Atapana's film and the subsequent debate between Brazilianist Barbora Kovářová and Mr. Atapana. At the event, it will be possible to buy the author's books, including an autograph, and handmade products imported directly from the Indians of the Amazon. Visitors can also look forward to catering.

The event is organized as part of the Brazilian film festival Kino Brasil. See the entire festival program at www.kinobrasil.cz
