About event
BLUE PRINTER INAK / cyanotyping
workshop for adults and families with children from 5 years old
We invite you to the cyanotyping workshop, which will take place on Thursday, April 2, from 14:00 to 16:00 in Pretoria. The workshop is being held in conjunction with the current exhibition Museum of Values – Pictorial Report on Slovakia.
Is it possible to connect an old photography technique invented 200 years ago in England with an exhibition offering a pictorial report on Slovakia? Is it possible to connect the "traditional women's world" with chemistry and creative photography? We can try. Let's see if cotton and threads can create a photographic composition in addition to embroidery, or if the crochet blanket can be used for something other than collecting dust on the shelf.
We will try the cyanotype technique, which is also called chemical blueprinting. The resulting image is created by the direct action of the sun on a light-sensitive surface impregnated with iron salts. We will also look into the past, how the technique was created and what it was used for over the decades.
The workshop is loosely inspired by the Slovak epic installation by the exhibiting artist Ivana Šáteková.
It is not necessary to have previous experience with photography. Each participant will create their own photograph - a cyanotype, which they will be able to take with them.
Workshop lecturer: Barbora Paulínyová
Date and time: 2/4/2026, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM (Thursday)
Place: Pretórium, Nám. Štefana Moysesa 51/25, Banská Bystrica
Registration and info: [email protected]
Fee: 5 euros / adult, 3 euros / child
Suitable for adults and children from 5 years of age.
The maximum capacity of the workshop is 15 participants.
