The Slovak Mining Museum invites you to another montane walk entitled "Modern Mining", which will take place on Saturday 13th September 2025. Miners.
Walk starts at 9:00 am In the parking lot at the building in Hodruš-Hámroch-sawmill. This will lead an approximately 11-kilometer route. The first stop will be Kopanice - Petrovka, where there are remains of mining activities. From there it will continue to the Banište hill, which will provide beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and offer interesting information about the geology of the region. This will be followed by a stop at the Modernist Tajchu, which was in the past part of the water management system serving the mining activity. At the end of the walk, the route will lead to a modern hereditary tunnel, which was one of the major mining buildings in the region. The journey will be closed by returning to the starting point in Hodruš-Hámroch-sawmill, while the expected end time is at 15:00
Due to the difficulty of the route, which includes 5 kilometers in the hilly terrain and an elevation of 400 meters, we recommend all participants suitable tourist shoes, plenty of water and food. Museums in Banská Štiavnica and will be led by an expert from the Mining Museum in Nature, Peter Orčík. Entry to walk is free, but we recommend that you book a place in advance. In case of bad weather, the event will not take place. The opportunity to look into the rich mining history of this area, explore the remains of mining works and better understand the demanding work of miners who once worked here.
