About event

🦋 Do you have half an hour? And could you dedicate it to butterflies? 🦋

❓ Do you remember the summer meadows that were literally bursting with the colors of butterfly wings?

Today it is rather a rarity. Our landscape is changing and its most colorful inhabitants are disappearing with it. At the same time, butterflies are among the sensitive indicators of the state of our landscape - their decline clearly signals to us that our meadows and meadows are losing their variety and strength.

Last year, however, you showed us that you are not indifferent to the fate of Czech nature. Over 400 of you counted an incredible 36,000 butterflies! You have most often met the beautiful peacock butterfly, which needs exactly what we strive for in its life - a healthy landscape with plenty of flowers.

🕵️‍♂️ Help us find out how our nature is doing this year. Become a scientist in the field for 30 minutes!

You can join this year's observation of diurnal butterflies in your gardens, meadows, parks or even on a walk in your neighborhood. What is important for observation? Choose a day when the weather is supposed to be the best and study in advance what some butterflies look like.

🦋 1st step
Choose a nice sunny day
The ideal temperature is 20 to 30 °C, clear or partly clear and no wind. You can observe from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., but butterflies like to take a break at noon.

🦋 2nd step
Print the form and observe for 30 minutes
Print a new form for each day or place. Do not forget to note the weather, day and place of observation. You can find everything you need in the printable form for beginners or advanced users.

🦋 3rd step
After completing the census, enter the data on the motylipulhodinka.cz website by June 8, 2025.
