MOVE - DISCOVER NON VERBAL IMPROVISATION
As improvisers, our body is the only tool we always have with us. We send it onto the stage (filled with our ideas and stories), open our mouths and dialogues, monologues, heated exchanges and deep discussions emerge. But what happens if you only rely on your body and simply forego language?
This workshop is about telling stories - only with your body. To enter into physical dialogues together and to let your body tell the monologue. We want to discover and try out together what my body can physically do and what images, emotions and stories it can create. Mime and clown techniques are just two important components of non-verbal improvisation and we will look at a (small) overview of the common methods and experiment with them.
Anne Rab is an actress, director, theater teacher, part of the management team of “Momenta”, the international festival for improvisation in Leipzig, and a long-standing member of the Theaterturbine. Since 2017, Anne has lived in Vienna, Austria, where she regularly teaches, directs and performs with the Viennese improv community and develops improvised shows and formats. She loves traveling the world with her various duos, including Ursula Anna Baumgartner (“Bemme & Melange”) and Jim Libby (“The Messengers”).
