Movement and Dance Workshop - In the Shape of My Ghost

A movement and dance workshop exploring gender fluidity and queerness through contemporary dance and ancient Chinese poetry.

In the Shape of My Ghost is a movement and dance workshop led by Berlin-based Taiwanese dancer and choreographer Po-nien Wang. The workshop explores gender fluidity, queerness, and the shifting perception of the self through contemporary movement, breathwork, and poetic imagery inspired by Taoist philosophy and ancient Chinese poetry.

Working with Tai Chi–based breathing and circular motion, participants are guided into a heightened awareness of the body where movement grows from intention, emotion, and imagination. The workshop explores a space where form is still emerging, where presence and absence, tension and release, and Yin and Yang meet in dynamic transformation. Po-nien invites participants to move beyond fixed identities and allow gestures to unfold with honesty and softness.

Beginning from simple actions—standing, walking, reaching, the session gradually awakens inner sensitivity and physical resonance. It culminates in a space of free movement, offering time for personal expression, shared tenderness, and quiet collective healing.
