About event
Brain, consciousness and (s)mind
Lecturer: prof. MD Jiří Horáček, Ph.D., FCMA
What will we discover this time?
- Reality or illusion: how the brain "invents" our reality and why it can sometimes be completely different , than it seems?
- The brain and the mystery of consciousness: why did consciousness actually arise and where should we look for it in the brain?
- The illusion of time: what is time at all and why does it drag on for us in childhood and in adulthood sprinting?
- Does it make sense: why does our brain desperately need to see meaning in what we do, and what happens when it stops seeing it?
A little bit about this great speaker:< br/>
- works as the head of the Center for Advanced Studies of the Brain and Consciousness at the National Institute of Mental Health
- deals with the neurobiology of schizophrenia and depression and modeling the activity of nervous tissue
- develops new therapeutic methods that unite modern neuroscience with psychotherapy
- examines the mechanisms of action of antipsychotics and psychedelics and their influence on our consciousness
The lecture will take place both in a "stone version" and in a live online broadcast via YouTube.
Entrance fee* for the lecture is 99 CZK for members of the Invulnerable Society, 249 CZK for non-members (300 CZK for place).
The "connection fee" for the online broadcast is CZK 79 for members of the Invulnerable Society, CZK 199 for non-members.
*The entrance fee covers the costs associated with the organization of the lecture and does not serve to enrich the lecturer or ( unfortunately) the organizer.
I am looking forward to the evening together! :-)
