Delia is the wife of the violent Ivan and the mother of three children. Wife and mother. These are the roles that define her, and that's enough for Delia. It is the second half of the 1940s, and Rome, where Delia lives with her family, is torn between two poles - on the one hand, the poverty that remained after the just ended war, on the other hand, the new wind of the coming liberalization. The whole family is excited about the upcoming engagement of their beloved eldest daughter, Marcella, who hopes to quickly marry the good boy of the bourgeois class, Giulia, and finally get rid of her troublesome family. Delia wants nothing more than she has, accepts her fate as it is given to her, and all she desires is a good marriage for her daughter. But the arrival of a mysterious letter gives her the courage to throw away her predetermined plans and imagine a better future not only for Marcella, but also for herself and other women. (Filmtopia)
