About event
🎻 What happens when classical music returns to its folk roots?
The evening of August 7th in the Lapidárium Gallery will not belong to a traditional string quartet or piano. The band MusEquality will take the stage! It is made up of five musicians who show that there has never been a fixed line between classical and folklore. ✌️
When we hear classical music, most of us think of music that is intended only for a certain group of people. But many famous composers looked for inspiration in folk music. In the melodies that were sung in villages, in dance rhythms and in ordinary songs that were passed down from generation to generation.
This is exactly the path that MusEquality takes.
Two violins, an accordion, a dulcimer and a double bass create a sound that is close to the classics, but at the same time shows it in completely new colors. It's not about simple "remakes" of well-known songs or about an effective crossover for the effect itself. Musicians are looking for how these works might sound if they met again with the environment that once inspired them.
"Our goal is not to change the very essence of the compositions, but to reveal their new layers and connections," explains violinist Viktor Janoštín.
You will hear classical music differently. Liver, more colorful and maybe even closer than you expected. 🎶
Performers:
MusEquality
Viktor Janoštín – violin
Lukáš Janoštín – violin, viola
Jaromír Žižka – accordion
Michal Procházka – dulcimer
Lukáš Holubík – double bass
