AnNa R. was on the hunt all her life. She was a seeker who was on the trail of the great power that unites people. For the love of love, she looked at those deeper
layers of the soul that the eye rarely wants to see. When she died suddenly and unexpectedly in March of this year at the age of 55, she already had a new project underway. It was to be called “Courage to Love”. After almost three and a half decades of career, during which AnNa constantly renegotiated love in a new and, above all, kitsch-free way, she had internalized a principle: To really allow love, it takes courage. Of course, AnNa was by no means free of self-doubt. In her songs, she conveyed her own vulnerability like no other in German-speaking pop. She made music
for millions because she expressed both her fallibility and her strengths in a tangible way
vocally. You could and wanted to identify with her words and her voice. AnNa created community where desperation often temporarily paralyzed the individual. She was carried away, she opened eyes and hearts. Above all,
she encouraged love. Anyone who reviews her entire work from the Rosenstolz beginnings to her solo album
“König:in” will discover countless song pearls full of life,
warmth of heart, passion and resistance.
AnNa is dead, but her songs live on. Friends and companions of the artist invite you to a celebration of her life, her personality and her great work on October 12, 2025 in Berlin's Columbiahalle under the motto “Courage to Love - An Evening for
AnNa R.” a. The choice of location is already a tribute to AnNa's unique character. In
the Columbiahalle, not far from the disused Tempelhof Airport, the music enthusiast
has performed countless times over the past 30 years. First with Rosenstolz, then with Gleis
8 and finally under his own name. For AnNa, her performances in the venue
were proverbial home games, as she had found her private home in the nearby Kiez
Friedrichshain, on the corner of Kreuzberg.
Well-known colleagues of AnNa R. have already announced their presence during the evening, which will be dedicated to her
effective existence. In addition to selected
word contributions, there will be a lot of music to be heard in different constellations. Songs from
Rosenstolz, Gleis 8, Silly and from the “König:in” album will be reinterpreted in homage to
during this unique
concert alongside previously unreleased song treasures from AnNa's work. Meanwhile, her closest confidants are certain: AnNa would have had no interest in a purely
commemorative event. That’s why “Courage to Love – An Evening for AnNa R.” will be a lavish celebration with humor, music and lots of love. Because
Nothing thrilled AnNa R. more in every respect than being together. There was only one AnNa –
celebrate a unique evening with us!
