Mutige Kirchen: Am Puls der Zeit, am Puls der Baukunst

An architecture that appeals to all senses. Spaces that celebrate God and his creation. Special places that attract us.

Special places that attract us and where we leave everyday life behind us: This characterizes all of Vienna's famous churches, and this remains the claim to this day to new church buildings. With the economic upswing and a general spirit of optimism after 1955, the desire to build a new church arose in many parishes, especially where the church was too small or an "emergency church" had become a permanent temporary solution. We visit three examples from the 1960s that demonstrate the interplay of innovative, expressive architecture and new forms of celebrating Mass after the liturgical reform of the Second Vatican Council: Oberbaumgarten Church - Church of the Good Shepherd - Council Memorial Church Lainz Speising.
