( Neoliberal capitalism in the 1990s and current efforts to move to renewable energy. The differences between them are considerable. While in the first case it was a real transition from one production method to another, the current "green" transition is only a discourse to legitimize energy expansion. From a global point of view, renewable energy sources do not replace fossil fuels, but grow alongside them. Nevertheless, there is at least one important similarity: both transitions have helped ensure the flexible workforce that capital needs to increase profit rates. "Green" translation is not only a greenwashing of existing conditions, but a narrative that accompanies a real (albeit unsustainable) production restructuring. Operaism was a stream of the new left, which came from the fighting of Italian working in the 1960s and which focused on how these struggles contribute to the change in technology, work process and composition of the working class itself. It offers tools that can be useful even in critical times today.
