Trip description
Sokołský hrad is gradually rising from the ruins, there is always something new, renewed, so let's explore it together. Interesting and rarely used by tourists is the connection of two valleys – the Uhrinče stream and the Paldzín stream valley. Above the valley of the Uhrinče stream is the ruin of the Sokoľ castle, and above the other valley, or the wide valley of Hornád, reigns the natural monument – Jánošík's bastion. From the final bus stop in Sokol, we will take the asphalt road up the valley. We will continue for more than 4 km through the valley, which gradually rises and narrows until we climb sharply to the castle.
After a tour of the castle and a moment of rest, we continue along the wide weighbridge below Vysoký vrch. Around the small cabin, we will reach the red marker in a significant descent. We continue in the direction of Kysak up to Jánošík Bastion. We will enjoy beautiful views and descend steeply to the furnace. Then just a comfortable route through the valley to Kysak. At the end, we will stop at the Margita spring, which has a reputation for healing water among locals.
Participant meeting: 7:40 a.m. in the vestibule of the bus station in Košice on Stanično námestí
Access to the meeting place: bus from Košice at 7:55 a.m., arrival in Sokoľ at 8:20 a.m. Information for tourists with individual transport - the route does not end at its starting point!
Length of the route: 14.2 km
Elevation: 530 m
Time requirement: total time of walking without stops and rest breaks approx. 5.5 hours
Estimated return: destination of the hike is in Kysak, approximately around 2:00 p.m. hours Return to Košice by train from Kysak, leaving at 2:30 p.m.
Košice Region Tourism and the Košice Family Tourism Club have prepared a varied series of family tourism in the vicinity of Košice with a varied program combining visits to events, museums and fitness activities in autumn, winter and spring nature. Guiding services and activity management will be provided by the Košice Family Tourism Club - TOM KRTKO. Travel by public transport, entrance fees to monuments and refreshments are paid individually on the spot by trip participants.
