About event
The Natural Science Club in Brno, the Institute of Vertebrate Biology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Moravian Provincial Museum invite their members and supporters to the 2024/2025 lecture cycle
Lecturer: Ing. Miroslav Čapek, CSc.
The Altai is a vast mountain massif in the center of Asia with an extremely diverse landscape, flora and fauna, differing not only by altitude, but also by its location on the border of several very different biomes: Mongolian semi-deserts, Kazakh steppes, Siberian taigas and alpine tundras. In the places where the borders of Russia, Kazakhstan, China and Mongolia meet, there is a harsh environment and demanding climatic conditions that force the local animals and plants to resistance and special adaptations, which we will demonstrate using the examples of local species of birds, mammals and plants.
