Annotation
Current events in Eastern Europe, especially Russian aggression against Ukraine, have shown that concepts such as "civil religion", "exceptionalism" or the "national idea" are not matters of the distant historical past. The term "exceptionalism" has gone beyond its use in studies of American political philosophy and has become a tool used worldwide. The history of Ukrainian thought and nation-building is of particular interest, especially given that it has long remained in the shadow of other fields. commonwealth. Attention will be paid to the ways in which it was justified (eg religiously, politically, morally, etc.) as well as to the various forms it took. However, the following questions or areas will be in the foreground:

How did Ukrainian thinkers of the 19th century see the role of Ukraine in history and in the world? Do we find in them the formulation of a certain conception of the historical mission of Ukraine among other nations?
What meaning - goal, idea or purpose - that the Ukrainian nation would fulfill and should realize, did Ukrainian thinkers see in the history and future of Ukraine?< br/>What beliefs about exceptionalism (if any) did the Ukrainian national idea include, or project of building the Ukrainian nation?

What position did the Ukrainian "national idea" have in the discussions of the 19th century and how was it defined in relation to the Slavs, Russia, Poland, Europe and the rest of the world?
What did the Ukrainians think thinkers that the Ukrainian national idea has a universal, all-human dimension, that it is not just one of the national ideas?
We welcome contributions that touch on these or related topics, from perspectives of the history of philosophy, intellectual history or the history of political ideas. At the same time, we will welcome contributions dealing with various conceptions of exceptionalism, which were developed in other national communities and which became part of the so-called civil religion. Last but not least, we welcome comparative contributions, offering a comparison of these conceptions of exceptionalism with the conceptions developed in the history of political-philosophical thought in Ukraine in the 19th century.
