Narozeninový koncert FOK

Whenever a round anniversary approached in the history of the Prague Symphony Orchestra, we naturally looked forward to it. But at the same time we had to circle around the exact date of the first concert. It just wasn't known. In the summer of 2023, however, the circling ended. The former head of the orchestra office, Jiří Hannsmann, found the holy grail in the middle of newspaper blackness – an announcement and review of the very first symphony concert from October 24, 1934. Thanks to Jiří, we also know the program of the concert, its conductor, and also the stage: Radiopalác. And the reviewer of the time was not wrong: "The new FOK orchestra, which is already recognizable from the outside as a representative and numerically appropriate ensemble, is already aiming for great artistic performances now, i.e. immediately after its foundation."
