About event
Dear Sir or Madam,
Dear friends and interested parties,
In view of the dramatic humanitarian situation in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, we cordially invite you to our specialist day:
"The M23 conflict in the DR Congo: Background, peace efforts and the role of the diaspora"
In order to find sustainable answers, looking at the acute symptoms is not enough. The aim of the conference is therefore not to view the conflict as an isolated violent event, but to analyze its integration into historical and global contexts. In three successive blocks, we examine the ongoing colonial continuities, examine and question the political-economic dimension of raw material exploitation as a driver of conflict, and subject the current peace negotiations to a critical analysis. Building on these findings, the final panel/audience discussion discusses the central questions about the concrete options for action of civil society and the role of the Congolese diaspora in the search for a just peace.
On: Saturday, November 29th, 2025, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
The event will take place hybrid and is free of charge.
On site: Kurt-Schumacher-Haus, Müllerstraße 163, 13353 Berlin-Wedding or online via Zoom
with German/French simultaneous translation.
Registration: [email protected]
When registering, please indicate whether you would like to participate on site or online via Zoom conference and whether you would like a German/French simultaneous translation need.
