About event

War is no longer just news from afar, but a reality that is quietly reshaping our identity, language and ideas about the future. However, our readiness for it does not lie in militarization, but in building community "superpowers" and mental readiness for times of permanent crises. How does our identity change at the border of conflict? How to fight apathy or displacement? Is storytelling a tool to overcome paralysis?

Viktória Citráková, artist and writer, accompanies the meeting. In his work, he explores the themes of collective vulnerability and personal mythologies. He is currently preparing a series of texts for the Slovak cultural and social portal Kapitál about how war transforms the identity of young people in Central and Eastern Europe.

Other guests will be:

Teťana Okopna, Ukrainian bohemian, interpreter and translator. Since 2012, she worked with the Czech Center Kyiv, from 2018 until 2023 she worked at the Ukrainian Embassy in Prague as a press spokesperson and cultural attaché. She translated the works of Václav Havel, Jaroslav Rudiš, Jáchym Topol and others into Ukrainian. In 2025, she received the Medal for Merit in Diplomacy from the hands of Minister Jan Lipavský for her contribution to the development of Czech-Ukrainian relations.

Rachel Pojarová, who graduated with a master's degree in Middle Eastern Studies and is currently completing a second master's degree in Security Studies. Thanks to this, he combines a deep knowledge of the Middle East region with a professional interest in security and defense issues. She spent part of her childhood in Israel, where she lived for four years. In 2024, she returned to Israel as part of the Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism study program, during the ongoing war. This experience also gave her a unique opportunity to observe the functioning of society in times of armed conflict and further deepened her interest in civil defense, state resilience and the relationship of citizens to national security issues. He currently works for an organization that, among other things, is dedicated to sharing information between European countries and Israel in the field of security and civil defense.
