About event

Robert Lambermont, Anna van Nieukerken, Petra van Oort and Laura Sandee play Meandres by Simeon ten Holt on the Wednesday after Easter.

The Natalon Quartet (formerly Rondane Quartet) plays two works by the Bergen composer Simeon ten Holt in De Duif. Pianist Robert Lambermont maintained a close relationship with the composer, who wrote about this in his memoirs: “Robert understood best that the performance of the full-length pieces (after Canto Ostinato) cannot simply be arranged with a few rehearsals or by skilled pianists, but presupposes a period of maturation that amounts to a difficult process of conquest.”

The pianists of the Natalon Quartet, praised for their renditions of the five full-length compositions van Ten Holt for four keyboard instruments, have been making music together for over eighteen years. This translates into unparalleled and crystal clear interplay. Four wings, one sound.

Meandres

This is Ten Holt's last major composition. He compared the composition to a four-track tape with which he had worked extensively in the 1970s. In principle, each pianist plays one track, but may also switch tracks if desired. There is a repetition structure as we know it from Canto Ostinato, but the parts are more clearly divided into four layers.

On April 22, the Natalon Quartet will perform Canto Ostinato by Simeon ten Holt. Tickets for this are available here: https ://de-duif-canto.eventbrite.nl

Pass-partouts for both evenings are available here: https://de-duif-pp .eventbrite.nl
