About event
As every year, this year too, at the meeting called RETURNING THE NAMES, we will honor the memory of the victims of the Soviet state terror by reading their names in public.
(текст на русском ниже)
🗓 The event will take place on October 29, 2024 at 6 p.m., characteristically at the Monument to the Victims of Communism in Újezda in Prague, Malá Strana.
br/>🌑 Among the millions of victims of Soviet repression were also thousands of Czechs and citizens of Czechoslovakia. Their names will also be heard at this year's meeting, which traditionally takes place on the eve of the Russian Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression. In various cities of the world and in Russia itself, thousands of people line up every year and read their names one by one.
🕯 Come and pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the monstrous Soviet repressive system together with us!
Names including short medallions, we will prepare for you and hand them out on the spot in Czech and Russian versions.
The return of names first took place in 2007 at the Solovetsky stone in Lubyanka, Moscow, and gradually spread to various cities in Russia and the world. Its initiator is the Russian association Memorial. Since 2017, we have also joined the Return of Names in the Czech Republic.
The event is being prepared by Gulag.cz and Memorial Czech Republic in cooperation with the Prague Russian Anti-War Committee and Общество Мемориал.

Dear friends! As every year, we again invite you to «Return of names». Come read aloud the names of the victims of the Soviet state terror and honor their memory in this way.
We are waiting for you on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the monument to the victims of communist repression (Újezd, Malá Strana, Prague 1).
«Возвращение имен» traditionally takes place every year on October 29, on the eve of the All-Russian Day of Remembrance of Victims of Political Repression. The main initiator of this action is the Russian society «Memorial», however, the names of the victims of Soviet repression have been remembered for many years in the most different cities and countries of the world.
Among the millions of victims of Soviet repression were thousands of Czechs and citizens of Czechoslovakia. At «Возвращении имен» in Prague, we traditionally read first of all their names. We will prepare leaflets with names and short biographies in advance in two languages (Czech and Russian) and distribute them on the spot. If you want to read other names at the event, please bring them with you. You can take names, for example, in the «Memorial» database base.memo.ru.
The action «Возвращение имен» started in Moscow at the Solovetsky stone on Lubyanka, gradually spreading to different cities of Russia and the world. Every year on October 29, thousands of people line up and, changing each other, read out loud the names of those shot by the Soviet government. In 2017, the "Return of the Names" took place in Prague for the first time.
The event is organized by Gulag.cz and the Czech "Memorial" in cooperation with the Prague Russian Anti-War Committee and the "Memorial" society.
