About event
"We won't celibate and we won't even get cold!"
The lives and activism of queer people in the 90s in Slovakia | a lecture of a fun and slightly interactive nature
📍22. August 16:30-18:00 | Tabačka, Fabrik
After 1989, space finally opened up for the establishment of official organizations of queer people in Slovakia as well. 🌈 Their membership and support faced many challenges - resisting hostile rhetoric from public officials, asserting empowering rhetoric about LGBTI+ lives in the media and in public space, making their experiences and demands visible, negotiating new legislation and, if possible, meeting love or at least having a good time.
📜 With the help of newspaper clippings, photos and drawings, we will tell you about these researcher and university pedagogue Veronika Valkovičová will give an engaging talk about ancient times.
We sincerely look forward to having the opportunity to welcome Veronika to us again. We cordially invite you to this event: come if you want to learn more or reminisce. We will certainly not miss you!
