JANA BEŇOVÁ was born in Bratislava in 1974. She is the author of three books of poetry and four novels. Her novel Café Hyena (The Escort Plan) won the European Union Prize for Literature in 2012 and has been translated into 14 languages ​​so far. Her other works include the essay-reportage book Flanérova košeľa (8 and 1⁄2 Bratislava streets), the collection of short stories Vandala (2021) and Conversations in the Park (2023), which were published by the BRAK publishing house. She worked as the editor of Denník SME and the editor of the Theater Institute, and is currently a librarian at Bratislava's Old Town Library.

JANA JURÁŇOVÁ (1957) is a novelist, playwright, and translator. Her first book, Zverinec, was published in 1994, since then she has published several prose books, five of which made it to the final ten of the Anasoft litera prize. She also received the Library Award for her novel Orodovnice (2007, 2008). Her most read prose is the parabiographical novel Žila som s Hviezdoslav. So far, the last novel Naničhodnica (2020) was also published in German and Slovenian, her other books are also published in translations. The book interview with Agneša Kalinová My 7 Lives was also published in Czech, German and Hungarian. She is the author of several plays, a selection of which was published by the Theater Institute in 2014. Until recently, the plays were Silver Bowls, Excellent Vessels (Studio 12, Bratislava) and a play about the fascist past by Milo Urbana Tichý bič (Modrý salón SND), for which her The Literary Fund awarded the Prize for original Slovak literary work. She has written several books for children; translates fiction (Margaret Atwood, Jeanette Winterson, Virginia Woolf, Joan Didion and others) and professional literature (Judith Butler, bell hooks, Judith L. Herman). In 2015, she received the Matej Bel Award for the translation of Dragan Klaić's book How to Restart Theater. In 2019, the President of the Slovak Republic, Andrej Kiska, awarded her the Order of Ľudovít Štúr, 1st class, for extraordinary services to the development of democracy, the protection of human rights and freedoms, and the development of literary activity.
