This is an experiential one-day course that introduces participants to the issue of disability and the consequences associated with it. It is intended not only for those interested in the field of helping professions, but also informal caregivers and all those interested in the issue of disability.
After a theoretical introduction, in which graduates learn current terminology, the causes of disability and its basic division into individual types, participants can try out simulators of different types of disabilities, including sensory disabilities. The simulation of old age will be ensured by the gerontosuit, thanks to which the intensive experience can be enriched by the fulfillment of assigned tasks.
The principles of communication with people with disabilities will not be neglected either.
The course is accredited by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, accreditation number: A2022/1314-SP/PC/PP/VP
Time subsidy: 7 teaching hours
Course content:
1. A person with a disability - general introduction
2. Principles of dealing with and communicating with a person with a disability
3. A person with a sensory disability - practical training, experiential form
4. Practical exercise of movement and orientation - work in pairs, simulation of sight and hearing loss
5. A person with a physical disability – practical training, experiential form
6. Compensation aids for people with physical disabilities, types of wheelchairs - mechanical, electric, practical training in handling a mechanical wheelchair, simulation of old age - geronto-suit - interactive experience, performance of assigned tasks focused on fine and gross motor skills
