About event
Nam June Paik: Moon is the oldest TV. Documentary film by Amanda Kim. - from September 11th in the cinema.
Nam June Paik is a fixed star of the artificial guard of the 20th century and probably the most famous Korean artist in modernity. His groundbreaking work was decisive for the international breakthrough of avoiding art in the 1960s and 1970s. He had the vision of a future early on in which "everyone will have their own television channel", through social media his visions are our reality today. Now the director Amanda Kim brings the story of Paik's rapid rise in the art world on the screen for the first time: from his training in Munich and his beginnings in the fluxus movement to emigration to New York and his establishment as a pioneer as a pioneer of video art. Mass media to fuel authoritarian tendencies at the same time and to strengthen intercultural understanding. The film has rarely seen archive material and excerpts from Nam June Paik's texts with encounters with his driving away with his driving away such as John Cage, Marina Abramović, Joseph Beuys, Charlotte Moorman or Peter Brötzmann.
