About event
NEW CANDYS from Italy in October on the boat!
Created in the spirit of the darkest, deviant rock'n'roll aesthetics and characteristic melodic distortions, New Candys have become one of the most interesting bands to emerge from Italy in recent years. They seamlessly combine aggressive, dirty sounds with dreamy melodies. The symbolism of their hometown of Venice often permeates their work, which explores surreal and sometimes mysterious themes. They appeared at festivals such as SXSW, Treefort, Psycho Las Vegas, Levitation France, Fuzz Club Eindhoven or Liverpool Psych Fest and recorded live sessions for KEXP and Jam In The Van. The band was founded by composer and singer-guitarist Fernando Nuti together with bassist and synthesizer player Dario Lucchesi; the lineup is completed by Emanuele Zanardo (solo guitar, backing vocals) and Francesco Giacomin (drums, sampler). Iggy Pop called them "kinky" and their songs were even featured in episodes of the Showtime TV series Shameless.
