🕯️ The memory of Juraj and Matúš - Faculty of Arts, Charles University, Monday, October 13 at 17:30 🕯️
For three years, we commemorate Juraj and Matúš - two young queer people whose lives have taken hatred. For three years, we have been saying the same thing: Hate is killing, that silently killing, that without the courage to name evil, there can be no fair society.
We keep repeating the same. That the world is moving to authoritarianism that fascism is overgrowing into everyday life, political speeches, media, public space. And yet we observe how those who should be responsible are receded - over and over again - on behalf of profit, stability and power. People who keep their capital with a cold, of course, sacrifice human dignity and the safety of those who have the least power. We are talking about freedom, but its borders narrow on behalf of "order", "traditional values" and "national identity". We are talking about safe, but Kvir is still facing attacks, ridicule, defamation, laws that push them back to silence. Everyone and all who want to speak, sing, read the poem or just be present) are welcome. It is about righteous anger who refuses to accept that hatred has become part of normal. It is about the rejection of cynicism, the defense of dignity that does not only belong to some. It is about the fact that solidarity is political because it is contrary to the world that is built on fear and hierarchy. Let's remember, let's ignite candles, share silence, but also righteous anger.
