About event

Tender works | with Erika Meszárosová and Hana Tupá

⇝ We invite you to the last workshop in the Gentle Works series, where Erika Meszárosová and Mrs. Hana Tupá will continue the Saturday dialogues between tradition and the present, between the intimate gesture of handwork and its collective dimension.

Erika Meszárosová is an intermedial artist who is primarily interested in women in art and history. In her work, she primarily deals with feminist themes and usually works in the medium of textiles, which she modifies into contemporary visual techniques. Following on from her project Women in the SNP, with which Erika draws attention to a forgotten part of history related to the position and role of women during the Slovak National Uprising, we will adopt knitting as a tool of espionage!

⇝ Gentle works | with Erika Meszárosová and Hana Tupa
📅 25/10/2025, Saturday, 14:00 – 18:00
💸 Entrance: €2 / €4
🎤The discussion and joint process will be moderated by Mira Sikorová Putišová.

⇝ Wool and needles will be available! We will be happy if you also bring mothers, fathers and brothers or grandparents with you.

We are looking forward to the last Saturday with you at the same table!

⇝⇝ The new gallery project opens several layers of communication and connects several levels. Their central point is manual "gentle" - creative, but also routine - handwork, traditionally attributed mainly to women. However, how can its status change and what frameworks of interpretation does it acquire when it crosses the boundaries of the gallery, becomes part of its environment, a means and at the same time an element of gallery communication?

Gentle works are a link between manual "female" activity, artistic production and a collective event. At the same time, they are a story about the history of art, where the main actors are women.

The project is realized thanks to the support of the SPP Foundation.
